Daze 36: Goodness

So while this Corona daze drags on and on, my heart is tempted to fret about about so many things. Then I hear my Father say, "It's all about my goodness and love. Think on that." So today I woke up at five fretting and arose to meditate, instead of fret. In the end of my fretting I found His goodness, and today choose to trust my good Father for all that's to come.

Then I started singing an old tune: Surely goodness and mercy will follow me, all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever and I will feast at the table set for me...Surely goodness and mercy will follow me, all the days of my life.

Goodness

Goodness is Who You are,

            Displayed in acts of love.

Goodness runs like a river,

            Flowing freely from above.

Goodness is like a circle,

            There’s no beginning or end.

Goodness just keeps on coming,

            Meeting me at every bend.

Goodness has no limits,

Not held in the confines of time.

Goodness ever surrounds me,

            No moment escapes its chime.

Goodness may come in darkness,

Or break forth in the light of day.

Goodness can take on new forms,

Then left in my heart to stay.

Goodness is ever growing,

            It cannot dormant stay.

Goodness is ever increasing,

Its fullness is new every day.

Goodness is Who You are,

To know you from the start.

Goodness is my heart’s desire,

            Enfold me in Your heart.

Daze 32: Yeast

So we made bread using yeast this week. Cinnamon rolls too. It reminded me of Jesus in Mark 7 and what He said about the yeast of the Pharisees and Herod. So today, just some reflective thoughts from my heart on yeast.

Yeast
Yeast rises and fills the dough and
            That soon doubles in size.
Yeast is best when controlled,
            With its dough pounded down.
The pounding makes it rise again.
It becomes even larger and fuller.
Then, finally baked, it stops rising,
            And receives the applause of
Those who see and enjoy the
                                   Work it has done.

JESUS said: Be careful and watch out for
            The yeast of the Pharisees,
            The yeast of Herod,
The yeast of heart and soul.

The yeast of the Pharisees
Is the way that wants to look and sound good.
Is the way of arrogance and pride.
Is the way the judges and condemns others.
Is the way of thinking you know it all.

The yeast of Herod
Is the way of the celebrity culture,
Is the way of  total selfishness and blindness,
Is the way of think you’re better than all others.
Is the way of mind-games and control.

The yeast of the heart
Can rot your heart from the inside out,
Can make you immune to the hearts of others,
Can turn you to building only your own kingdom,
Can leave you empty and destitute with a heart
                        Full of ashes and dust,
Full of unfulfilled dreams and desires,
Full of hope for the only thing that will help you.
                                    JESUS.

The yeast of God’s Spirit
Can be the yeast in my life and days
That makes my heart rise to Father,
The kneads me til I’m in His image
That swirls me round and round,
That mixes me with other flours and flavors.
God's yeast is the power of my heart.

Daze 31: Hearts

June 14: My heart cries out for this to end, but even more for Him to do His will on earth and to change my heart in the process to only trust in His goodness.

Hearts

Fill my empty heart, O Lord,
With words of praise to You.
Come and heal my longing heart,
          Til they complete their due,
Let my life not be a rue.

I don’t know how to pursue
          Your longing in my heart,
I only know that You are true,
And I only know a little part,
That You began from the start.

You chose me, Lord, with love,
And formed me from Your heart.
Take mine now and draw me near,
          That we never be apart,
                    And your Spirit never depart.

I love you, Lord, with heart and soul,
With all I know to do and be.
Take all that I offer now,
          To you on bended knee,
My heart in Yours is free.

Let Your glory ring from shore to shore,
When I draw my final breath.
Let your goodness and your love,
Be all that’s left from my death,
As part of Your eternal Shibboleth.
